As I was planning a short getaway with my family, a colleague mentioned Muthi Maya and recommended it to Kirimaya, which areactually in the same property. While the latter caters more to golfers and more affordability, Muthi Maya is an all-pool villa resort that attracts both families and couples for its serene peace and untouched beauty.
Situated within the same premise as Kirimaya, known for its Jack Nicklaus designed golf course, Muthi Maya is an all pool villa resort with only a handful of villas available. Upon arrival, we were greeted with friendly staffs, cold refreshments while checking in. Once all the formalities were done, we were escorted to our villa on one of the golf carts that are widely employed in the premise.
Spacious would be an understatement for the pool villa at Muthi Maya and we actually like the ingenious designs and use of space. Each villa is actually more or less a square, equally divided into four parts for the dining, living, bed and baht rooms, separated only by the slideable partitions.
All items in the mini-bar were complimentary, as well as two capsules of those Nespresso coffee.
The daybed in the living area could very well allow two adults to sleep in, and our baby son seemed to actually enjoyed all the space with himself.
We did not dip into the pool during our first day as it just rained and the water seemed cold. Instead, we chose to just relax for a bit, before going for our dinner as we actually arrived late from Bangkok.
Having been told that the buffets at Muthi Maya had been fully booked for the night, and that they would be able to accommodate us only after 8pm, we decided to go to Acala, the diner at Kirimaya instead. The resort arranged for our exclusive transportation as seemingly everyone else was having dinner at Muthi Maya.
Acala served authentic and exclusive Thai cuisines. Each dish has been exquisite cooked and served no clay pottery. A rather nice touch that I like.
Another nice touch by Muthi Maya is the availability of different types of pillows that will suit your preferences, which the resort called “A pillow you can dream on”.
After a good night, little woke us up early the next morning, as if to say that “Time for breakfast!”
There were good selections of both ABF and local dishes for breakfast from the usual sausage and egg, to Pho (Vietnamese noodles), porridge, fried rice and many more. Breakfast was served with the pool and garden view.
We requested a late check out so that we could have a bit more time in the pool at our villa for Matt to enjoy. My wife bought a brand new float for him and he seemed to love it. And we love it. However, with the water being a bit cold, we only allow Matt in the pool for a few minutes. This also proves that he is not afraid of the water, which kind of worried us during our first few attempts to get him into the pool several weeks ago.
With helpful and friendly staffs from our arrival to departure, Muthi Maya did not disappoint. We highly recommend the resort whether you are traveling as couples or families to Khao Yai. Muthi Maya is definitely one of our favorite resorts.
